Popularly known as Kokkis or Roce Cookies in Mangalore, Rosette Cookies are thin, lacy, wafer like cookies prepared from seasoned coconut-milk batter during Christmas time as part of the “Kuswar” platter. The Christstollen has been around for centuries now. It is a yeasted bread baked with a mix of rum soaked dry fruits, nuts, spices and candied citrus peel.
The Christmas Cake / Fruit Cake are terms used interchangeably for a rich-moist sweet-spiced cake full of alcohol (Brandy/Cognac/Whiskey) soaked fruits like rasins, currants, sultanas and cherries. Traditionally this cake is made atleast 6 weeks before Christmas and fed regularly with the alcohol and cut on Christmas eve.
